Happy Independence Day Nigeria ~ Updates (qr) Community

Happy Independence Day message written by Edidiong Ekong one of our community member Updates (qr) Community . Help Edidiong Ekong win one of 5 Samsung Smartphones by liking his message here  http://airteloperamini.net/zev9aajbre.html

On October 1, 1960, Prime Minister Tafawa Balewa urged us to "move with quiet dignity to our place on the world stage."
On October 1, 2003, the world stage is defined by such technologies as personal computers, the Internet and mobile phones. The 21st century will be the century of knowledge and the century of technological developments and a century in which the intellectual capital of a nation will drive its economic growth.

It is therefore imperative that we invest in our children's education, not only so that they can flourish in world that demands technological literacy, but so that we can harness their creativity in building our nation. Our investments in education and technology will be our legacy to our children. They are investments that will bring the best out of the next generation of Nigerians and enable us to reach our potential as individuals, as communities, as a nation.
There is an old saying: "Give a man a fish and he eats for a day. Teach a man to fish and he will never be hungry." The art of fishing and self-sustenance is more valuable than having a fish on your plate. For Nigerians in particular, this parable reminds us that developing our human resources is more valuable than exploiting our natural resources.

My brothers and sisters, we invest in education because it will enable us to build a better Nigeria. Our children will be the beneficiaries tomorrow of the collective decisions that we adults make today. When we invest in our children, we will find that our collective standard of living will grow, too. The real leaders of this nation are ordinary people with the extraordinary determination and foresight to invest in their children's education. As we answer Prime Minister Balewa's call and march towards the world stage, let us also remember that our common interests - in our nation, and in our children - outweigh our differences. We are greater than the sum of the fears that have kept us divided in the past as a people.
As we pause to celebrate our nation's 43rd birthday, please take time to remember that most Nigerians who celebrated our nation's first birthday are no longer among us. We honor their memory and legacy by showing our love for our family and friends, our respect for each other, and reaffirming our oneness as a people.
You owe it to our founding fathers and mothers, and to all Nigerians, to avow that wherever flags are flying, no one is more determined than you in ensuring that the Nigerian flag flutters high above those of many nations.

Nigeria is a work in progress and a country with enormous potential. Our petroleum reserve is the envy of many other nations today, and the Nigerian people have an unstoppable determination, internal fortitude and indomitable spirit that give me hope for the future. Greet all Nigerians with love and respect, and send\r\nyou my best wishes for a joyous Independence Day.

Microsoft Best-selling Device ~ Nokia Lumia 520

You've probably heard of many Nokia Lumias, I bet you didn't know which of them is Microsoft's best selling Lumia.
Personally, I thought the best selling Lumia would be Lumia 925 becaus of its brilliant features, but no, it ain't it
The state of the PC industry was summed up this week in an internal meeting at Microsoft, where it was revealed that theNokia Lumia 520 is the biggest selling Windows device on the market at the moment.

The budget-friendly smartphone, according to Softpedia, is the most popular Windows device going, with its sales outgrowing that of any other Windows-based tablet, PC or laptop.

Although there were no official figures stated in the meeting, given the amount of advertising spend on Microsoft Surface and Windows 8, it is interesting to see a cheap phone surpass Microsoft's own hardware and software offerings – although the low cost will definitely have a factor towards the Lumia 520's popularity.

Attention: You Must Know That Upgrading Your iPhone to iOS 7 Is Irreversible

This warning goes to all owners of iPhone 5S and iPhone 5C
If you owns iPhone 5S or an iPhone 5C, then you’d have already known that your iPhone comes pre-loaded with iOS 7. Of course, you don’t have to buy a new iPhone to get the latest version of iOS. You could upgrade your iPhone 5 to iOS 7 pretty easily and a lot of people have done it. What they don’t realize is that there is no turning back.

When you take your existing iPhone and run it through the update process to get iOS 7, you effectively take away the option of downgrading back to iOS 6 if the new visual style doesn’t tickle your mobile fancy. If you were to try to roll your iPhone back to iOS 6, you’ll be greeted with an error message in iTunes saying that you can’t do that. If you do find that your iPhone is having some trouble, you could also just do a restore… but it will restore back to iOS 7.

This isn’t necessarily a bad thing, per se. You do get access to some new features in iOS 7 like Control Center for quick settings access, but it is a bit of a bummer if you don’t like the new colorful and flat style. I’m sure there’ll be some hacks and workarounds for this kind of thing, but on an official basis, if you made the leap to iOS 7, you can say goodbye to iOS 6 forever. At least you won’t be alone. Apple says that iOS 7 has been installed on over 200 million devices. Credits~MobileMag

Sunderland1-3 Liverpool

Sunderland 1-3 Liverpool

It was a  fantastic game so far. The dramatic display of skills by the both teams made the match very interesting. Luis Suarez netted twice today. His goals help Liverpool record a 3-1 win over Sunderland at the Stadium of Light.
The three point from the match moved the Reds up to second place in the Premier League table. Just moments after Sebastian Larsson had hit the bar for the hosts, Daniel Sturridge controversially gave the Reds a lead, appearing to use his arm to nudge the ball goalwards, before Suarez doubled the advantage just eight minutes later. Emanuele Giaccherini netted immediately after half-time as Sunderland hinted at a comeback, but, in pushing forward for an equaliser, they were stung on the break as Luis Suarez scored his second goal.

THE FATHERHOOD OF GOD By Bayo Abraham

Matthew 6:9
'After this manner therefore pray ye: Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name.'

Until we understand the concept of the Fatherhood of God, we cannot enjoy God fully. We fret and enter into anxiety all the time is because we are ignorant of His love, care, provident, etc. for us.

When the Lord Jesus Christ was teaching His disciples how to pray, He began with the above quoted sentence. He made them to realized that when they settle the issue of God's Fatherhood by entrenching it in their hearts, the problem of Christians living with fear, uncertainty, insecurity, jealousy, envy, bitterness, etc shall be nonessential.

This concept was not strange to Old Testament saints. The Almighty layed the foundation of the history of mankind with this same concept. He created everything man needed before He made man as His work of sixth day. Genesis 1: 1-28.

The Prophet called Him 'The Everlasting Father'. Isaiah 9:6.

When people loss site of Who He was to them in the Old Testament as it is with many Christians today, He addressed them sorrowfully thus :

' A son honoureth his father, and a servant his master: if then I be a father, where is mine honour? Malachi 1:6

We serve God carelessly these days because we fail to realize how close our heavenly Father is to us. Also, we didn't recognise His love for us. He loves you than you love yourself.

Jeremiah 29:11 ' For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the LORD, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end.' John 13:1 Having loved his own which were in the world, he loved them unto the end.

If we know that our earthly father desires and wants the best for us, how much more our Heavenly Father. He imprinted this on the heart of early Church when He said, 'Casting all your care upon him; for he careth for you.' 1 Peter 5:7.

His caring dated back to when we have not entered our mothers womb. If He could do all things to protect us from wicked family members and merciless midwives how would He not carter for us now?

Isaiah 46:3-4 'Hearken unto me, O house of Jacob, and all the remnant of the house of Israel, which are borne by me from the belly, which are carried from the womb: And even to your old age I am he; and even to hoar hairs will I carry you: I have made, and I will bear; even I will carry, and will deliver you.'

Beloved, rest in Him. All power in heaven, on earth and underneath the earth is His. That is why He is ALMIGHTY. Let this sink into your spirit. Do all things in this consciousness and your life and ministry shall never remain the same.

Honour Him. Serve Him as Father. Relate with Him in the light of Fatherhood. Rest on His bosom. Love Him dearly and passionately. Confide in Him, He will not divulge your secret. He cannot betray you. And importantly, fear Him. An African adage says 'The same teeth the dog uses to play with her puppies she also bites them with.'

CONCLUSION:
John 1:12 But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name: Are you a son of God? If you are, be confident He is on your side.

Manchester United Deafeted By West Brom At Old Traford Review + Other EPL Matches Results

Manchester United 1-2 West Brom

David Moyes has failed yet again, Its a shame he cannot fit into Sir Alex Ferguson's shoes. The question is, can United rise up to the big fours?
Saido Berahino Manchester United West Bromwich Albion Premier LeagueWest Brom earned their first victory over Manchester United in 29 years as they claimed a 2-1 win at Old Trafford today.

Steve Clarke's side had not beaten United since a 2-0 success in March 1984, but set about correcting that stat as Morgan Amalfitano ended a delightful dribble with a chipped finish early in the second half. And, though Wayne Rooney levelled things up from a free-kick shortly afterwards, substitute Saido Berahino restored the visitors' advantage before they held on manfully to claim all three points. With his side looking to get their Premier League title push back on track following last week's 4-1 defeat to Manchester City, David Moyes made seven changes to his team.
Javier Hernandez was given another chance to impress after scoring the winner in the League Cup victory over Liverpool in midweek, while Robin van Persie was forced to settle for a place on the bench having missed the last two games with a groin injury. Steve Clarke, meanwhile, handed starts to Victor Anichebe and Claudio Yacob in place of Nicolas Anelka and James Morrison respectively, but the West Brom boss was forced to reshuffle his team yet again just 13 minutes into the match. Berahino was thrown into the fray, with the 20-year-old forward replacing the injured Scott Sinclair in attack.

Berahino was unfortunate not to score just a few moments after coming on, as he nodded an inswinging cross from the left just wide of David de Gea's post. A few minutes earlier, Hernandez had gone close to turning home Nani's cross from the right. Anderson went even closer with half an hour on the clock, as he struck the crossbar with a header from close range before smashing the rebound hopelessly over the top. Stephane Sessegnon had the best chance before the break, but the Benin international failed to control a side-footed effort following a flick-on from a corner as he shot high and wide.

United were forced into a change at the break, as youngster Adnan Januzaj was introduced in place of Shinji Kagawa, with the Japan international presumably having picked up an injury during a promising first-half performance. And things soon went from bad to worse for the hosts, as Amalfitano opened the scoring eight minutes into the second half.
The Frenchman simply walked through the United defence after picking the ball up in a deep position and, after shrugging off Rio Ferdinand, he had the presence of mind to produce a dinked finish that gave De Gea no chance. The sight of Robin van Persie preparing to enter the fray moments later would almost certainly have given West Brom’s defence plenty of food for thought, but United levelled matters before the Dutchman even got onto the pitch. Rooney's inswinging free-kick from the left-hand side deceived everyone in the box, finding the net without the need for a team-mate's touch. Most inside Old Trafford would have expected the champions to cruise to victory after getting back on level terms, and introducing Van Persie, but the visitors rallied superbly and took the lead again in the 67th minute.

Berahino was the scorer for West Brom, the youngster lashing a beautifully weighted Amalfitano lay-off to the edge of the box beyond De Gea with his left foot. West Brom defended brilliantly as the inevitable United push for an equaliser gained steam with the clock ticking down, but they had Marouane Fellaini's poor judgement to thank for avoiding conceding five minutes from time.
The Belgian pushed forward needlessly before Nani squared to provide a tap-in, with his celebrations cut short by the assistant referee's flag. The visitors subsequently held out to claim a famous win, their first at Old Trafford in 34 years. Credits~Goal.Com

Torres Saw Red As Chelsea Pulled A Draw At White Hart Lane

Its all over! 90 minuet has decided the outcome of the game.
Tottenham 1-1 Chelsea
It was Indeed a big game. The both teams were at their best.
Tottenham were excellent in the first half and opened the scoring through a fine Gylfi Sigurdsson goal, before Paulinho clipped the outside of the post just before the break. But the relentless Mourinho took the bull by the horn by making some good changes. Mourinho's half-time tactical substitutions and the introduction of Juan Mata, with the Spaniard adding much-needed spark in the final third and setting up John Terry’s equaliser. As Chelsea turned the tide, they looked the more likely winners but their chances of taking all three points disappeared with the red card shown to Fernando Torres for a second booking following a challenge with Jan Vertonghen.
Torres was dismissed for a second bookable offence eight minutes from time after clashing with Jan Vertonghen - although TV replays hinted that the striker could feel aggrieved.

Facebook To Remove Some Ads In Newsfeed

You'll agree with me that some Ads on Facebook are creepy, especially when it has little or nothing to with our interest.
Facebook newsfeeds will contain fewer ads for products or services that users are not interested in, Facebook Inc said on Friday, announcing changes in advertising policy.

It was the Web company's latest effort to refine the newsfeed ads that have become more important to its business.

"When deciding which ad to show to which groups of people, we are placing more emphasis on feedback we receive from people about ads, including how often people report or hide an ad,"Facebook said.

"If someone always hides ads for electronics, we will reduce the number of those types of ads that we show to them," the company said.

Facebook has been trying to make ads more prominent without triggering a backlash among its 1.15 billion users.

The world's No.1 online social network, which generates roughly 85 percent of its revenue fromadvertising, now injects one paid ad into every 20 "stories" users see in their newsfeeds, the company said in July.

While big brands such as Toyota and AT&T advertise on Facebook, the company also makes money from marketers of weight-loss and teeth-whitening products. Analysts say some users may not welcome these less-glamorous pitches in their newsfeed.

Forrester Research analyst Nate Elliott said Facebook needs to take steps to keep the latter category of ads in the less intrusive, right-hand side of the Web page, while reserving the space within users' newsfeed for higher-quality ads.

"If Facebook allows unappealing advertising to invade that space then they're in trouble. That harms the user experience, and reduces the value of that inventory for high-quality marketers," Elliott said.

Facebook said some marketers "may see some variation in the distribution of their ads" in coming weeks. The company did not elaborate.

Shares of Facebook finished Friday's regular trading session up 1.7 percent at $51.24, the highest closing level since the company went public in May 2012.

MORE THAN MERE MAN (John 1:45-46) By Bayo Abraham

Philip found Nathanael and told him, “We have found the one Moses wrote about in the Law, and about whom the prophets also wrote—Jesus of Nazareth, the son of Joseph.” Nazareth! Can anything good come from there?” Nathanael asked. “Come and see,” said Philip.

Beloved, you are more than who people think you are. Psalm 139:14. -I will praise You, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made.

God does not see as man sees.

In Ezekiel 37:1-10, People saw dry bones, men saw worthless trash, but God saw a group of powerful soldiers who are great army. What people see concerning you is not a finality. It is the testimony of God that we should hold on to.

In Exodus 4:10 Moses saw a stammerer, but the Almighty saw a deliverer.

In Judges 6:15. Gideon saw himself negatively. He said, 'Oh my Lord, how can I save Israel? Indeed my clan is the weakest in Manasseh, and I am the least in my fathers house.' But, God saw a mighty man of valour.

In Luke 5:1-6, People saw a failed and unlearned fisherman in Peter, but God saw a great evangelist. This was obvious in Acts 4:14 thus. 'Now when they saw the boldness of Peter and John, and perceived that they were uneducated, common men, they were astonished. And they recognized that they had been with Jesus.'

In John 4: 6-42, The whole world saw an harlot who had six men passing through her life. However, God saw in her an evangelist of repute. It is not what people think or see in you presently that matters, but what you cooperate with God to do in your life.

There is a seed of greatness in you. Can you see this? Because, God needs your cooperation before He could do what He determine to do in your life. Give Him chance. Matthew 18:19 Again I say unto you, That if two of you shall agree on earth as touching any thing that they shall ask, it shall be done for them of my Father which is in heaven.

The Saviour of the whole world appeared on the scene, but He was not recognized. Ask the Lord to open your eyes to know who you really are.

Your location, background, educational status, gender, and your present situation does not count for what God is about to do in your life. Hebrews 11:9 By faith he (Abraham) sojourned in the land of promise, as in a strange country, dwelling in tabernacles with Isaac and Jacob, the heirs with him of the same promise.

Nobody gave the madman of Garderer any chance. God located him and turned him to an evangelist. The world has not seen the last of you. You are going out from here hotter, brighter and purer in the mighty name of Jesus.

Ones debtors, rejected and discontented followed David and later became mighty men. Never write yourself off. 1 Samuel 22:2. And every one that was in distress, and every one that was in debt, and every one that was discontented, gathered themselves unto him; and he became a captain over them: and there were with him about four hundred men. 1 Chronicles 12:21 And they helped David against the band of the rovers: for they were all mighty men of valour, and were captains in the host.

Beloved, you are a raw material for a finished product. When God finish what He is about to do, the whole world would marvel.

Do you have faith in what God says you are? Faith is not passive. You've got to take decisive action. Equip and develop yourself spiritually, physically and ministerially. Raw material cannot amount to anything except it pass through process.

Though we are mere men and women, we don't have to die like that. We've got to put our imprint on the sand of time. Release your potentials through prayers, studying at the Lord's feet and self development. As you do these, the Lord shall crown your effort in Jesus name.

We shall meet on the mountain top in Jesus name.

Shallom.
Bayo Abraham.

You probably must have heard of fuel scarcity in Nigeria, I bet you've not heard of 'Husband Scarcity.' This is what's trending now.
Zamfara Women Protest Over Husband Scarcity No fewer than 8,000 women on Thursday matched to the Zamfara Hisbah Commission, seeking the state government’s assistance to enable them to get married. Led by the Chairperson of the Zamfara Widows Association, Hajiya Suwaiba Isa, and the patron, Alhaji Sa’idu Goshe, the women said they were not living a normal life and needed husbands to become whole. “Many of us cannot afford two meals in a day because there are no men to support us,” they said. The patron said the association had over 8,000 women, comprising 5,380 divorcees, 2,200 widows, 1,200 orphans and 80 others, whom he said, were looking for men to marry. He said the women also needed assistance to purchase household items such as beds, mattresses and other basic necessities needed to move to their husbands’ houses. Goshe appealed to the commission to assist the association in screening suitors for the women. He said the screening would determine the suitors’ health status, source of livelihood and ability to maintain a family.

Angry Okada man attempted Suicide

Okada riding must be this man's only source of livelihood.
Report has it that a desperate, angry Okada man tried to kill himself yesterday Thursday September 26th by throwing himself in front of a trailer and then, an SUV after his motorcycle was seized in Oyo State.
According to a report by Nigerian Tribune, the unidentified Okada man was stopped by officers of the Oyo State Commercial Vehicle Registration Unit and upon checking his papers, alleged they were fake, after which they seized his Okada.

According to eyewitnesses the man pleaded with the officers for a while but when his begging fell on deaf ears, he attempted suicide by flinging himself in front of two on coming vehicles. Fortunately there were people around the area to rescue him both times.
He later went into shock and started foaming from the mouth. Some policemen arrived the scene and took the man to the hospital.

New Imac With Iris Pro ~ Apple

Apple are always on top of their game. You can't look down on Apple when it comes to Computer, devices, and phones. Unlike Blackberry and Nokia that are slowly going on extinction. Apple has given its iMac a small revamp. The new release brings Haswell cores from Intel, new NVIDIA Corp. GPUs, improved Fusion drives and more ports.

Last October Apple made major changes to the iMac line, which included a new 5-mm thick aluminum frame. This time round the changes are more subtle but nonetheless contribute to making Apple’s all-in-one (AIO) personal computer a serious contender in the bid for the best value in the market.

Currently Lenovo dominate the AIO PC market after over-taking Apple. So what does the new iMac have to offer? Well the revamped model comes with 8 GB (upgradable two 32 GB for 27-inch, 16 GB for 21.5-inch) of 1600 MHz DDR3 and a 1 terabyte “Fusion” drive, a mostly hard disk hybrid drive with an undisclosed amount of NAND flash onboard (upgradable to 3 TB traditional HDD, a 256 GB SSD, or a 512 GB SSD).

Spec
Apple’s AIO PC comes with a wireless “Magic Mouse” and wireless keyboard. It also has 802.11ac Wi-Fi and the following ports:
SDXC card slot
Four USB 3 ports (compatible with USB 2)
Two Thunderbolt ports
Mini DisplayPort output with support for DVI, VGA and dual-link DVI (adapters sold separately)
10/100/1000BASE-T Gigabit Ethernet (RJ-45 connector)
Kensington lock slot

The 21.5-inch model of the iMac, which costs $1,299 comes with the on-die Iris Pro GPU inside the Intel Haswell 2.7 GHz quad-core Core i5- 4570R processor.

Apple claims that it has been able to significantly improve the hardware and firmware of its proprietary Fusion drives, thus making performance 50 percent faster than the previous generation.

Compared to the competition, Apple has priced the new iMacs rather aggressively. Even those who want a Windows 8 AIO can now consider a new iMac via Boot Camp, which supports Windows 8.

Samsung To Launch Its Golden Galaxy S4 Soon

Following the release of Apple's Gold iPad 5, and Gold 5s Samsung obviously don’t want to be left behind in the gold rush. Samsung has decided to step up their game to meet up with the fast and furious challenge in the mobile market. This has prompted Samsung to announce that  it will be launching its own golden phone soon.

The new Gold Edition Galaxy S4 will be available in two options, a Gold Pink model or a Gold Brown. The technology company has been showing off the new handsets on its United Arab Emirates social media outlets.

It is unlikely that these luxurious handsets will reach global distribution but instead look to be targeted at a well-off demographic, similar to the one that the Nokia Oro was aimed at.

But at least Samsung can say it too has a golden flagship product.
With all these new flamboyant phones and devices, I'm just wandering whether one can afford all of them at the same time smh.

Carling Cup ~ Manchester United 1-0 Liverpool As It Happened

Manchester United 1-0 Liverpool
It was such a breath taking match, as United were all out to take a revenge on Liverpool.
Javier Hernandez brought a sense of stability back to Manchester United after a turbulent week by netting the only goal in an absorbing Capital One Cup tie with Liverpool.

Hernandez wriggled away from Jose Enrique to touch home Wayne Rooney's corner.

The Mexican's first goal of the campaign came so early in the second-half, United manager David Moyes had barely got beyond the penalty area in his walk to the home dug-out.

It meant it was easy to spot the Scot's celebration, at a strike that should at least quell some of the angst that built up following that awful hammering at Manchester City four days ago.

United's performance was not perfect.

Indeed, on his return following a 10-match suspension, Luis Suarez came close to levelling when his vicious free-kick struck the bar with David De Gea beaten.

De Gea had only just repelled Victor Moses' powerful diving header.

But the hosts had chances to sew up the contest too, with Simon Mignolet producing a couple of excellent saves to deny Rooney.

And after bravely riding the hefty punches landed on him at the Etihad Stadium, Moyes was probably not that bothered about the actual scoreline anyway, just the much-needed victory against one of England's biggest clubs, and United's greatest rivals.

It was hardly a surprise Suarez should start.

After all, when you have spent so long out and are desperately in need of match fitness, there is little to be gained by kicking your heels on the bench watching others do what you are paid so much for.

Perhaps understandably though, the Uruguayan was not quite on top form.

He was caught on his heels slightly when Steven Gerrard rolled an inviting pass into his path, which allowed Rafael to slide back and clear.

And when Enrique's curling cross dropped over Jonny Evans' head, Suarez's first touch was just too long so De Gea was able to slide out to bravely block his second.

He did supply the through ball that ended with Daniel Sturridge toe-poking wide.

Suarez would have also got the assist if Moses had been able to drill his square ball home. Moses didn't get the opportunity though as Ryan Giggsreached it first.

Smart-Watch ~ Sony Smartwatch 2 Vs Samsung Galaxy Gear

Smartwatch are a unique tech around, smarter than your mobile phones I bet. They've been around for some time now, but the technology of the devices brought to market so far haven’t been the Secret Service/James Bond style that everyone pictures when they say the word “smartwatch”. Now though, Sony and Samsung seem to have stepped up their game and are going head to head in a considerably more exciting battle of the smartwatches than we've seen to date.

Bellow are the specification for the two watches

Sony Smartwatch 2 Specification
1.6 inch display 220 x 176 pixels
Aluminum body with interchangeable straps
Micro USB Charging with 3- 4 day battery life (average use)
NFC and Bluetooth connectivity
$262 out late September 2013

Samsung Galaxy Gear Specification
1.63 inch display 320 x 320 pixels
Stainless steel body
Snap-on USB 3,0 charging with 24+ hours heavy use
Bluetooth 3.0 connectivity
$299 out October

The Samsung Galaxy Gear seems to have a sharper display. In fact Samsung are proud to say that the display is bright enough not to be affected by sunlight. No cupping your hand over the smartwatch’s face to tell the time.

Both the Samsung and the Sony are nicely designed although the Sony Smartwatch 2 offers a little more flexibility for its users with interchangeable straps.

Both watches are extremely app friendly (of course), but Samsung have an advantage with this as they've secured partnerships with some of the more popular app developers. Also, when it comes to running apps, the Samsung model might be slightly better as the CPU is faster than its competitors.

Sony Smartwatch doesn’t have all the features Samsung has users can still use the watch to call friends and family but only with a Bluetooth headset as there isn’t a mic or speakers. But what kind of spy could do without a waterproof watch? Sony’s watch allows its user to swim whereas the Samsung will only protect them from a shower.

You probably may be asking "Which is Best?" Well, the one thing that will undoubtedly let the Samsung watch down is the fact that it is only compatible with the Samsung Galaxy Note 3. A short way down the road there will be updates to make it compatible with the S3, S4 and Note 2. In comparison, the Sony watch is compatible with any android phone that operates Android 4.0. the options are almost endless.
Take a pick. Make your choice

Kenya Mall attackers Only wanted to Kill

Report from president Kenyatta reveals that the Westgate Mall attackers are not interested in hostage-taking.
The militants didn't respond to efforts to negotiate. The president further said that the Al-Shabaab militants ended up regrouping to one corner of the mall, setting a fire.
Six security officers, at least five terrorists and at least 61 civilians are reported dead in the attacks, in addition to some 175 injured. The president promised "full accountability" for the "mindless destruction, deaths, pain, loss and suffering we have all undergone" in a nationally televised speech. "These cowards will meet justice, as will their accomplices and patrons wherever they are," Kenyatta vowed.
We'll continue to update more information on Kenya mall attacks.

Transfer Rumors~Soccer

Baines contract talks on hold
The Mirror report that Manchester United transfer target Leight on Baines must wait to secure a new deal that will see him earn a pay rise, with Everton boss Roberto Martinez claiming that a bumper contract has been “put aside.” United swooped for the England full-back during the summer transfer window but were unsuccessful in their approach as Baines accepted Everton's decision to refuse the Premier League champions. Reports suggest that Baines will be offered a 50 percent pay rise for his loyalty – taking his weekly wage to £75,000. Martinez said: “At the moment, all it is is the games and any individual contracts or situations are put aside. The only thing that concerns me is just to make sure he’s as fit as he can be and gets in a stronger position and balances the demands of England and club level. That’s what I’m focused on, that his day to day is perfect. Everything else, behind the scenes we’re happy with the situation and we’re making sure he’s happy as well.” Paper Round's view: There's no doubt that Baines will be given a new contract at Everton but, even though the defender was accepting of not becoming a Manchester United player over the summer, it is surely a tactic to bump up his price when former Everton manager Moyes comes knocking again.

Juventus to rival Liverpool and Chelsea for Alonso
The Express suggest that Italian giants Juventus have entered the race to sign Real Madridmid fielder Xabi Alonso, rivalling Liverpooland Chelsea for his signature. The former Liverpool midfielder's contract at the Santiago Bernabeu is set to expire at the end of the season, with a number of teams across Europe looking to secure his signature should he not renew his current deal. The paper reports: “Alonso, who turns 32 in November, has been eyed up for a possible summer move to Turin as a replacement for the ageing Andrea Pirlo.” Paper Round's view: There's no doubt that Alonso could replace the majestic Pirlo but, if he wasn't to renew his Madrid contract, then a move back to the Premier League would surely be the preferred option.

AKWA IBOM @26 AND THE GREATEST ACHIEVEMENTS

By
PRINCE UWEM UMANI jnr

As a caring, humble and a loving son/daughter of Akwa Ibom, you will
agree with me that Akwa Ibom state is no longer the Akwa Ibom we knew
8yrs back. We have achieved more than what a 26yr old man can achieve.
Some years back, our state was known as a place where slaves were
always picked from. Even in Nollywood,we saw as actors and actresses
always making caricature of us by addressing Okon, Etim, Akpan and co
as gate-men while Ekaette, Iquo, Atim, Nkoyo and co were being
addressed as maids.. But thanks to God today that we have Ekaette as a
first lady in a state where the women of the country cannot do
anything without her. Today, Akwa Ibom state is no more a centre for
slaves export, but a centre for active education, tourism and other
international developments. Its a place where international investors
fly in to invest their money.

@ just 26, I am bold enough to tell all of you that we have what
others will never have in the next 100yrs. So many positive things
are happening in the state. The Use Ikot Amama road which was
forgotten and abandoned for centuries is now a road where every
person(s) visiting Akwa Ibom for the first time will always love to
take a picture of it before leaving

THE IBOM TROPICANA
One can mistakenly call this place heaven because
of the air that is blowing there. I don't want to deeply go into this
Earthly heaven. if you have not been there before, go and see the
miraculous activities that is going on there, the fresh air that is
blowing there, the nature of the buildings and so on.. Not only on the
aspect of entertainments. This place at the end of 2014, shall provide
employments for more than 250,000 Akwaibomites who are one way or the
other looking for job employments.
THE IBOM E-LIBRARY
No wonder the present governor of the state, Chief
Godswill Obot Akpabio con was awarded the best African humanitarian
governor of the season in 2012. please, dont border going to anywhere
in the West Africa to take a look at E-library because you will never
find it. It's only in Akwa Abasi Ibom state that you can find it. If
you think i'm joking, go and make the research. You will come back to
Uyo and have a peep of our E-library.
THE IBOM AIRPORT
Mehn, this airport is not only an airport but the
best international airport in Africa. As far as you are flying to
America, Uk, China India and so on with any aeroplane in Ibom airport,
it's a guarantee period of 3 hrs. Don't take this for granted. It is
only in this airport that you can fly directly with angels to Heaven
without any visa. This is the only permitted airport in the whole
world that people can fly to Heaven. If you think it's a joke, ask the
people that have flied from Ibom Airport before or you could try it
yourself.
Apart from these things being mentioned here, others are; The new
governor's lodge, 5 star hotel, the best Olympic stadium in West
Africa, underground drainage system, more than 100,000 new roads in
the state, 4 fly overs, 300 new hospitals across the state, free and
compulsory education and many others that i cant mention here. With
all these developments, you can adhere to the fact that Akwa Ibom
state is a PALACE WHERE KINGS AND QUEENS dwells.
Happy 26th Anniversary.

Islamist Militants Are Still Holding Out In Kenya Mall

Somalia's al Shabaab Islamist group said on Tuesday its militants were still holed up in a Kenyan shopping mall they attacked at the weekend and there were "countless dead bodies", raising fears the death toll could be higher than 62.

Kenyan security forces were searching for the al Qaeda-linked attackers who are believed by Western sources to include Americans and possibly a British woman who may be the widow of a suicide bomber who took part in an attack in London in 2005. Al Shabaab rejected suggestions that foreigners were involved.

Sporadic bursts of gunfire and an explosion marked the fourth day since the militants stormed into the Westgate center in Nairobi during a busy Saturday lunchtime, spraying bullets and lobbing grenades.

Helicopters buzzed over the complex, which is popular with foreigners and prosperous Kenyans. Al Shabaab says it launched the attack in pursuit of demands that Kenya withdraw troops from Somalia, where they have battled the Islamist group. President Uhuru Kenyatta has vowed to stay the course there.

The attack has come at a time when several violent Islamist groups from Mali to Algeria, Nigeria to Kenya - tapping into local grievances but all espousing an anti-Western, anti-Christian creed - are striking at state authority and international interests.

"There are still gunmen in the building," said an intelligence officer, who asked not to be named, speaking near the mall, which is surrounded by troops. Asked if there were still hostages, he said: "We are not sure yet."

As Kenyan authorities asserted that the end of the siege was "very near", al Shabaab said its militants were still holding out in the Westgate center and their hostages were still alive.

"There are countless number of dead bodies still scattered inside the mall, and the Mujahideen (fighters) are still holding their ground #Westgate," the group said on its Twitter feed.

HOSTAGES ALIVE

"The hostages who were being held by the Mujahideen inside #Westgate are still alive, looking quite disconcerted but, nevertheless, alive."

It described its fighters as "unruffled and strolling around the mall in such sangfroid manner".

People who earlier helped remove bodies from the mall said they believed there were still many lying there yet to be removed, suggesting that the death toll could rise.

The Kenyan military said its forces were carrying out "mop up operations" in the building.

The Interior Ministry earlier said security forces were in control of the mall and that all the hostages had been released.

A trickle of survivors left on Monday, but the fate of those still missing was unclear. It was also unclear how many of the militants had been killed or captured.

The government said on Monday three had died and a television report on Tuesday said "six of the remaining attackers" were killed. There has been no clear official tally.

An army spokesman said 11 soldiers had been admitted to hospital, and of that number three had died.

Images from closed-circuit television inside the mall during the attack, published in a Kenyan newspaper on Tuesday, showed two militants, casually dressed and wearing ammunition belts. One held an assault rifle. Al Shabaab confirmed that the two men were part of the group that attacked Westgate.

Kenyan Foreign Minister Amina Mohamed told the U.S. PBS Newshour television show that "two or three Americans" and a British woman were among the militants.

She said the Americans were "young men, about between maybe 18 and 19" years old. She said they were of Somali or Arab origin and had lived in "in Minnesota and one other place".

Al Shabaab, which said it had been in communication with its members in the mall, dismissed the minister's comments.

"Those who describe the attackers as Americans and British are people who do not know what is going on in Westgate building," al Shabaab's media office told Reuters.

"WHITE WIDOW?"

A British security source said it was possible that Samantha Lewthwaite, the widow of Germaine Lindsay, one of the suicide bombers who killed more than 50 people on London's transport system in 2005, was involved in the Nairobi siege.

When asked about reports that Lewthwaite, dubbed the "white widow" by the British media, was directly involved in the attack in Kenya, the source said: "It is a possibility. But nothing definitive or conclusive yet."

Lewthwaite is thought to have left Britain several years ago and is wanted in connection with an alleged plot to attack hotels and restaurants in Kenya.

U.S. security sources said they were looking into information from Kenya that residents of Western countries, including the United States, may have been among the militants.

U.S. President Barack Obama, whose father was born in the east African nation, offered help, saying he believed Kenya - the scene of one of al Qaeda's first major attacks, in 1998, and a neighbor of chaotic Somalia - would continue to be a regional pillar of stability.

Kenyan officials have tried to reassure the country that they are in command of the situation. Officials said there would be a news briefing on the situation later on Tuesday.

"We continue to appeal for calm, keep vigil and avoid Westgate area," the Ministry of Interior said on its Twitter account.

The attack on the mall is the worst such incident in Kenya since al Qaeda killed more than 200 people when it bombed the U.S. Embassy in Nairobi in 1998.

When fighters from its Somali ideological counterpart stormed the mall on Saturday, they hit a high-profile symbol of Kenya's economic power.

Kenya has sent troops to Somalia as part of an African Union force trying to stabilize the country, which was long without a functioning government, and push back al Shabaab.

It has also suffered internal instability. President Kenyatta, who lost a nephew in the weekend bloodbath, faces charges of crimes against humanity at the International Criminal Court for his alleged role in coordinating violence after disputed elections in 2007. He denies the charges.

British Defence Secretary Philip Hammond said he believed six Britons had died in the attack. Other known foreign victims are from China, Ghana, France, the Netherlands and Canada. Kenyan officials said the total death toll was at least 62.

Conflicting comments have fueled speculation about the attackers' identity. While the foreign minister said there was a woman attacker killed, Interior Minister Joseph Ole Lenku had said on Monday they were all men but some had dressed as women.

The Black Widow ( White Widow ) The Prime Suspect For Kenya's Mall Massacre

Some call her "the white widow" but I call her "the black widow" cos she has a black heart that careless for humans. I wonder whether all the people at the mall murdered her hussy that she choose to revenge.

A British security source said on Tuesday it was a possibility that the widow of a suicide bomber who attacked London in 2005 was involved in the siege of a Nairobi shopping mall where Islamist fighters killed at least 62 people.

When asked about reports that Samantha Lewthwaite, dubbed the "white widow" by the British media, was directly involved in the attack in Kenya, the source said: "It is a possibility. But nothing definitive or conclusive yet."

The security source spoke on condition of anonymity.

Lewthwaite is the widow of Germaine Lindsay, one of the suicide bombers who killed more than 50 people on London's transport system in 2005. She is thought to have left Britain several years ago.

Fairfax About To Offer Blackberry $4.7 Billion

Like Nokia, it appears that Blackberry will be bought over by Fairfax, as they are closing in to cut a deal.

By Reuters'~Alastair Sharp
Struggling smartphone maker BlackBerry on Monday signed a tentative deal to be acquired by a consortium led by its biggest shareholder, setting a $4.7 billion floor in the auction of the Canadian company that invented on-the-go email.

The consortium is led by Fairfax Financial Holdings Ltd, a property and casualty insurer run by Canadian investor Prem Watsa. It has offered $9 a share in cash for BlackBerry, which last week said it expected to report a quarterly loss of nearly $1 billion.

"We can deliver immediate value to shareholders, while we continue the execution of a long-term strategy in a private company with a focus on delivering superior and secure enterprise solutions to BlackBerry customers around the world," Watsa said in a statement.

Fairfax owns almost 10 percent of BlackBerry shares.

BlackBerry has until November 4 to seek superior offers, which is also the deadline for the Fairfax-led group to conduct its due diligence. Its shares, halted pending the afternoon announcement, rose to $9.20 as trade resumed but quickly slipped back to around $8.80 by mid-afternoon.

"This is a company that needs to go private if they have any chance," said Colin Gillis, an analyst at BGC Partners. "They'd be able to restructure outside of the public eye, take a long term view, and run the company at break even."

BlackBerry, based in Waterloo, Ontario, pioneered the concept of on-your-hip email with its first email pagers, offering secure email away from an office, and for years it was the must-have device for governments, businesses and lawyers.

But in recent years it has lost market share to the iPhone from Apple Inc and to devices using Google Inc's Android operating system.

BlackBerry warned on Friday it would report revenue on the sale of just 3.7 million of its phones for the entire second quarter. By contrast, Apple sold 9 million iPhone 5s and iPhone 5c models in three days after their Friday launch.

The asking price is far below BlackBerry's share price in the heady days before the iPhone ended its dominance of mobile communications.

Even in its more recent history - littered with profit warnings, job cuts and devices that often arrived late on the scene to disinterested audiences - BlackBerry shares have only dipped below $9 briefly.

In the past 12 months the shares have risen as high as $18.32 and fallen as low as $6.22 on theNasdaq.

Robot vs Human: Superhuman Robots With Artificial Muscles

Talk about super humans and super robots. Hollywood is good at these topics, always wetting our appetite with imaginary robots and super human movies. Most of those movies showing stuff like super robots kicking humans ass and ripping their limbs off.
The big question is, are robots really stronger than humans? read on.

As it stands now, robots have a very distinct way of moving (think of the robot dance). Humans move in with a smooth fluid motion. The reason humans can maintain such control over our movements comes down to our muscles which produce force and motion. The longer a muscle stretches, the more weight it can support and the more control of movement it allows.

Artificial muscles have been developed, used and studied for many years now. The relationship between artificial muscles and prosthetic limbs is forever marching forward. However, scientists have only ever been able to develop an artificial muscle that stretches up to three times its original length. This poses serious problems when it comes to strength and control. The average robot can only lift objects half of its weight.

Another win for humans is our ability to react within a fraction of a second. Robots often take longer to react and then have to wait for a mechanism to kick in before they move. All in all, humans wouldn’t have anything to worry about in a hand to robot hand combat situation.

Next Generation Robots

Dr. Koh and his team at NUS have developed an artificial muscle that not only has several attributes that are closer to the human muscle than any other artificial substitute from the past:
Pliable – The polymer used as the muscle, which is based on a rubber material, is workable and moves very much like a human muscle.
Reaction – Electrical pulses cause the muscle to move, just as electrical pulses sent to our brains tell us to move our muscles. This means that the reaction time for the artificial muscle is nearly the same as a humans.
Energy – The team found that the polymer produces energy as a bi-product. It’s thought that this could mean the production of essentially environmentally friendly robots that can power themselves after a small amount of charging.

Superhuman Strength

So far, the team at NUS have developed a muscle that can stretch to 5 times its original length and is able to carry a weight up to 80 times heavier than itself. Although Koh is understandably proud of his team for their achievement, they estimated that the polymer actually has the potential to stretch up to 10 times its original length. This would enable it to lift loads up to 500 times its own weight.

The future robots that use this form of artificial muscle will be more human like than any of the transformer style robots we’ve seen in the past. And they will undoubtedly win any arm wrestling match on Earth. Credits~Tech Beat

About 4,500 Jobs To be cut by Blackberry

Thorstein Heins Blackberry
If you are a Blackberry user, this is a must read.

Blackberry has announced that after huge losses, it plans to cut 4,500 jobs or 40 percent of its worldwide workforce.

In a statement on Friday, Blackberry’s chief executive Thorstein Heins said, “We are implementing the difficult, but necessary operational changes announced today to address our position in a maturing and more competitive industry, and to drive the company toward profitability.”

“Going forward, we plan to refocus our offering on our end-to-end solution of hardware, software and services for enterprises and the productive, professional end user.”

Shares in the firm closed down at 17 percent and the company has said that it anticipates losses of $995 million when it reports the second-quarter earnings next week.
Z10 Model Disappointing

Blackberry has attributed losses mainly to the disappointing sales of the Z10 model of the smartphone. Back in June, Heins said that out of the 6.8 million handsets produced, only 2.7 million were shipped. Blackberry users had decided to stick with earlier models.

Then in August, board member Timothy Dattels was appointed to work with a committee that would consider Blackberry’s options, including a possible sale.

Although analysts have felt that patents belonging to Blackberry could entice potential buyers, none of the big names in technology have shown an interest publicly.

No doubt the announcement of job cuts and losses will make anyone who is considering buying Blackberry think again.

Even with the release of a new version of its handset, the Z30, the future does not look so good, especially as the launch was overshadowed by the new Apple products. TechBeat
