Facebook Eases Up On Posting Restrictions For Teens

This sounds good to many people, but I think Facebook need to do more than that, because sometimes I get totally pissed up with Facebook cos of some unnecessary restrictions and questions I get on Facebook. I give TechBeat credits for this. Pew Research found out earlier this year that teens think Facebook is passé. According to the research, teens now prefer Twitter, as Facebook is too full of drama and having to manage their online reputation (via Facebook) is proving to be too much of a hassle. The result? More teens have been turning to Twitter.

Facebook has been busy doing all sorts of things – trying to entice teens being one of them.

In a move which can only be seen as reaching out to the younger crowd, Facebook has lifted some posting restrictions for teenagers. Before this latest change, Facebook users aged 13 to 17 were not allowed to create public posts. Of course, if you’re older than 17, you might not have known of this issue. If you’re ultra careful about your posting settings, you probably wouldn't find this an issue as well.

There is some use to being able to create public posts, though, and not having to add people just so they can see your posts. That’s exactly what Facebook has allowed with this most recent change for teenagers’ accounts. The idea is to allow everyone to broadcast posts freely. Just.like.Twitter.

Whether this will make Facebook cool for teens again, we are yet to find out.

In other Facebook-related news, the social network is now allowing gory videos on our newsfeeds – again. This feature was disallowed by Facebook earlier this year, thanks to the advice of watchdogs. Facebook has reverted to its original stance, though: they want users to have the freedom to see (or report) such content.
So, what do you think about this changes?

Sir Alex Ferguson Dismisses Rumour Of His Return to Manchester United

The legendary Sir Alex Ferguson is greatly missed by millions of Manchester United die heart fans around the globe.
Recently, there was some speculations about Sir Alex Ferguson's return to the club, following United's poor start this season.
A report from Crunch Sport has it that Sir Alex Ferguson has ruled out stepping out of retirement and returning to Manchester United - and has also claimed to have once been approached by Chelsea. Sir Alex called time on his distinguished career at the end of the 2012/13 campaign after 26 years in charge at Old Trafford, with David Moyes the man chosen as his successor.

Moyes has made not made the most convincing of starts, with United having suffered three defeats in their opening six Premier League fixtures to sit 12th in the table. It has been suggested that Moyes, who signed a six-year contract after leaving Everton during the summer, could already be on borrowed time, but Ferguson is confident his fellow Scot will turn things around. In an interview aired on American television networkPBS, he said: "I'm not interested in managing again or getting myself worked up about Manchester United's results. "United are in good hands with David Moyes. He will be fine.

He's a good manager. "You would be throwing your money down the drain if you put any money on me coming back as a manager. "I made my decision. The timing was perfect. There is no way back for me now. I've got a new life. I want to go to the Kentucky Derby and the US Masters, the Melbourne Cup. I want to visit vineyards in Tuscany and France." Ferguson also revealed that Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich tried to lure him to Stamford Bridge shortly after completing a takeover in 2003.

Facebook To Remove Some Ads In Newsfeed

You'll agree with me that some Ads on Facebook are creepy, especially when it has little or nothing to with our interest.
Facebook newsfeeds will contain fewer ads for products or services that users are not interested in, Facebook Inc said on Friday, announcing changes in advertising policy.

It was the Web company's latest effort to refine the newsfeed ads that have become more important to its business.

"When deciding which ad to show to which groups of people, we are placing more emphasis on feedback we receive from people about ads, including how often people report or hide an ad,"Facebook said.

"If someone always hides ads for electronics, we will reduce the number of those types of ads that we show to them," the company said.

Facebook has been trying to make ads more prominent without triggering a backlash among its 1.15 billion users.

The world's No.1 online social network, which generates roughly 85 percent of its revenue fromadvertising, now injects one paid ad into every 20 "stories" users see in their newsfeeds, the company said in July.

While big brands such as Toyota and AT&T advertise on Facebook, the company also makes money from marketers of weight-loss and teeth-whitening products. Analysts say some users may not welcome these less-glamorous pitches in their newsfeed.

Forrester Research analyst Nate Elliott said Facebook needs to take steps to keep the latter category of ads in the less intrusive, right-hand side of the Web page, while reserving the space within users' newsfeed for higher-quality ads.

"If Facebook allows unappealing advertising to invade that space then they're in trouble. That harms the user experience, and reduces the value of that inventory for high-quality marketers," Elliott said.

Facebook said some marketers "may see some variation in the distribution of their ads" in coming weeks. The company did not elaborate.

Shares of Facebook finished Friday's regular trading session up 1.7 percent at $51.24, the highest closing level since the company went public in May 2012.

Kenya Mall attackers Only wanted to Kill

Report from president Kenyatta reveals that the Westgate Mall attackers are not interested in hostage-taking.
The militants didn't respond to efforts to negotiate. The president further said that the Al-Shabaab militants ended up regrouping to one corner of the mall, setting a fire.
Six security officers, at least five terrorists and at least 61 civilians are reported dead in the attacks, in addition to some 175 injured. The president promised "full accountability" for the "mindless destruction, deaths, pain, loss and suffering we have all undergone" in a nationally televised speech. "These cowards will meet justice, as will their accomplices and patrons wherever they are," Kenyatta vowed.
We'll continue to update more information on Kenya mall attacks.

The Black Widow ( White Widow ) The Prime Suspect For Kenya's Mall Massacre

Some call her "the white widow" but I call her "the black widow" cos she has a black heart that careless for humans. I wonder whether all the people at the mall murdered her hussy that she choose to revenge.

A British security source said on Tuesday it was a possibility that the widow of a suicide bomber who attacked London in 2005 was involved in the siege of a Nairobi shopping mall where Islamist fighters killed at least 62 people.

When asked about reports that Samantha Lewthwaite, dubbed the "white widow" by the British media, was directly involved in the attack in Kenya, the source said: "It is a possibility. But nothing definitive or conclusive yet."

The security source spoke on condition of anonymity.

Lewthwaite is the widow of Germaine Lindsay, one of the suicide bombers who killed more than 50 people on London's transport system in 2005. She is thought to have left Britain several years ago.

Gunmen Kills 39 People including close relatives of Kenya's president and children in a Shopping Mall Nairobi, Kenya Today in an attack claimed by the Somali Islamist group al Shabaab.

A Keyean soldier taking cover
At least 39 people including close relatives of Kenya's president and children are reported to have been killed by heavily armed gunmen who stormed a shopping mall in Kenyan capital Nairobi, in an attack. Somali Islamist group al Shabaab claimed they are responsible for the attacks.
Reuter reports: Shooting continued hours after the initial assault as troops surrounded the Westgate mall and police and soldiers combed the building, hunting the attackers shop by shop. A police officer inside the building said the gunmen were barricaded inside a Nakumatt supermarket, one of Kenya's biggest chains.

"We got three bodies from this shop," he said, standing a dozen meters from the supermarket entrance and pointing to a children's shoe shop where blood lay in pools.

He turned to a nearby hamburger bar where piped music still played and food lay abandoned. "And a couple of bodies here."

al Shabaab, which is battling Kenyan and other African peacekeepers in Somalia, had repeatedly threatened attacks on Kenyan soil if Nairobi does not pull its troops out of the Horn of Africa country.

"The Kenyan govt (government) is pleading with our Mujahideen (holy warriors) inside the mall for negotiations," the group said on its official Twitter handle @HSM_Press. "There will be no negotiations whatsoever at #Westgate."

Another al-Shabaab tweet read: "For long we have waged war against the Kenyans in our land, now it's time to shift the battleground and take the war to their land."

The assault was the single biggest attack in Kenya since al Qaeda's east Africa cell bombed the U.S. embassy in Nairobi in 1998, killing more than 200 people. In 2002, the same militant cell attacked an Israeli-owned hotel and tried to shoot down an Israeli jet in a coordinated attack.

GUNMAN DEAD

The Kenyan presidency said on its Twitter feed that one wounded gunman had been arrested, but had died in hospital.

The U.S. State Department said it had reports that American citizens had been injured.

Tiles at the mall were smeared with blood, bullet casings were strewn on the floor and shop windows were shattered. A policeman dragged the corpse of a young girl across the floor and laid her on a stretcher. Two policemen lay on the floor with guns trained on the supermarket entrance.

Some local television stations reported hostages had been taken, but there was no official confirmation.

Kenyan forces first entered Somalia two years ago to try to stem incursions by al Qaeda-linked militants.

Al Shabaab, which Kenya blames for shootings, bombings and grenade attacks against churches and the security forces, had threatened before to strike Westgate, a mall popular with the city's expatriates, as well as other soft targets such as nightclubs and hotels known to be popular with Westerners.

Somali President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud said it was too early to draw conclusions. "We don't have any proof that the people who did this are Somali," he told Reuters in Washington.

One woman leaving the building told a journalist that one of the attackers had told all Muslims to leave the area. Survivors told Reuters at least one of the attackers was a woman.

Police helicopters circled above shortly after the initial assault as armed police shouted "Get out! Get out!" and scores of shoppers fled the sand-colored stone building. Smoke poured from one entrance and witnesses said they heard grenade blasts.

Others said they saw about five assailants storm the mall.

TERRIFIED SHOPPERS

The shopping center includes a number of Israeli-owned businesses, though it was not immediately clear if these had been targeted specifically. At least four Israeli nationals escaped the assault, one with light wounds.

"As of now, this appears to be an internal Kenyan incident, that is, a terrorist attack but not one that specifically targeted Israelis," an Israeli Foreign Ministry spokeswoman said.

One eyewitness who identified himself as Taha said he had heard the screech of brakes followed moments later by an explosion, and then sustained gunfire from the ground floor.

Satpal Singh, 36, who was in a cafe on the mall's top floor, said he ran downstairs when he heard the gunfire and was shot at near the mall's main exit.

"A Somali guy shot at me. The guy who shot me was carrying a rifle, an AK-47."

Some shoppers ran up stairs and escalators and hid around the mall's cinema complex. Police found another terrified group hiding in a toilet on the first floor.

Some wounded were wheeled out on stretchers and shopping trolleys. Other walked out, some with bloodied clothing wrapped around wounds. Dozens of wounded were ferried away by ambulance.

"So far we have 30 dead at the mall," said Kenyan Red Cross Secretary General Abbas Guled. He added he expected more wounded and dead.

Police cordoned off the roads surrounding the mall in central Nairobi's Westlands neighborhood.

"I personally touched the eyes of four people and they were dead. One of them was a child," said one former British soldier at the scene. "It's carnage up there."

Shocking: $30,000 Coffin with Built-in Stereo Sound System Unveiled

Fredrik Hjelmquist's CataCombo Sound System is now offered for integration into luxury coffins.
.
You'd wish you were dead. Not saying you should go and murder yourself though, cos if you do, you'd have bought a one way ticket to hell.

The stereo system shall pipe the music into it "for audiophiles on the other side." At $30,000 (N 4.91 Million), the coffin comes equipped with speakers and a Spotify music streaming account. And while the party might be going on 6 feet underground, the living can share in the experience by changing the mix online or seeing a digital readout of what's playing on the tombstone. The idea of this invention is not clear, cause if you can hear the music while lying in your coffin, you probably shouldn't be in it just yet!

We won't be seeing rest in peace no more. What we'll be seeing is stuff like "Groove in peace" Lol!: Now that sounds pretty cool to those who've been begging for death to come and take them.
The question is, can the dead listen to music in their grave? I don't think so. Don't know about you. What do you think?

Tokyo has been chosen to host the 2020 Olympics and Paralympics Games

Tokyo has been chosen to host the 2020 Olympic and Paralympics Games ahead of Istanbul and Madrid

The Japanese capital won a majority of second-round votes from International Olympic Committee (IOC) members in Buenos Aires to beat Istanbul. Madrid had earlier been eliminated in a first round of voting. The announcement was met with jubilant scenes in Japan, as Tokyo prepares to host the event for the first time since 1964.
Japan In Istanbul's old city, a groan went through the crowd of hundreds of people.
In the first round, Istanbul and Madrid tied with 26 votes each. Tokyo had 42 votes, six short of a winning majority. Istanbul then beat Madrid 49-45 in a tiebreak to advance to the final, which Tokyo won easily.

In their final presentation, Madrid made its case as the least-expensive option and Istanbul spoke of historic opportunity to bring the Olympics to a predominantly Muslim country for the first time.
Madrid, biding for the third time, had seemed to have gained the most momentum in recent weeks despite Spain's economic crisis and 27 percent unemployment rate. The Madrid team claimed the games would not pose no financial risk because most of the venues were already built.

Devil possesed Cultists Attack 7 Churches, Shoot Worshippers, Set Priests’ Residence Ablaze In Anambra

I thought it was only Boko Haram sect that usually attack and burn churches. In this endtime, it appears the devil is working overtime, recruiting new stooges to carry out his little dirty works.

Hell was let loose in the early hours yesterday at Oba-Ofemmili community in Awka-North Local Government Area of Anambra State, when some youths, suspected to be cultists attacked Christians in their worship places, shot and inflicted machete wounds on over 50 of them.

The attackers also went on rampage, looting and burning churches in the community. Some of the churches burnt include Assemblies of God Church, Grace of God Church, Deeper Life Bible Church, Winners Church, Christ Holy Church, St. Paul's Catholic Church and another Pentecostal church. The assailants, according to the victims, attacked the worshipers with dangerous weapons, shooting sporadically and wounding several people. They were said to have invaded no fewer than seven churches, burning and destroying everything within their reach.
A two-year old baby was among the victims.
It was gathered that trouble started in the community over disagreement between the Christians and the idol worshipers on the cultural night masquerade, a local fetish cult opposed by Christians in the area. A victim of the incident, who gave his name as Mr Sunday Aliuba, said they were in the church when the miscreants stormed their church, armed with guns and machetes. He said they swooped on the congregation and inflicted machete wounds on them, causing stampede as people struggled to escape from the church. Hear him: "How it happened was that Oba-Ofemili and the Christians had an agreement that the night masquerades will not start by 9 pm, and we were having our programes according to the rules. But on Monday night, I was at the crusade when we heard that the pagans will burn down all the churches. Around 11 pm, they started shooting sporadically into the air, causing everybody to shiver.
Around 1.00 am on Tuesday, they stormed the church, and razed down the parish priest's house and pursued everybody in the church. We hid under the staircase and under the pews. "In self-defense, we pounced on some of them. As it got hotter, my colleagues ran away. I also ran but they pursued me and shot me in the legs, shattering my ankles and bones. They also inflicted machete wounds on me. The blood that came out of my body can fill two buckets. It is only God that is sustaining my life till now." When contacted, the priest of St. Paul's Anglican Church, whose parish church was razed, Rev. Pat. Odinanwa, said series of efforts made to ensure peace in the community between the church and the community failed. He said the pagans nursed pathological hatred for Christians in the community. According to him, there were agreements reached between the church and the community, but the pagans sought all avenues to stop Christians from worshiping God in the community. According to him, over 50 persons sustained gunshot and machete wounds, while seven churches were burnt by the irate youths. He said Christians in the area had been living in fear, as the youths threatened further attack today.

Syria crisis: Russia and China step up warning over strike

The age long crisis in Syria is indeed worrisome, as the situation grow worse by the day. The recent chemical attacks on civilians raised many eyebrows. Assad's regime is accused of using chemical weapons on civilians. Although president Assad has denied the allegation, the Obama administration in the other hand, harden its stance against Syria and stepped up plans for possible military action, dismissing as too late the regime's offer to let United Nations officials to inspect the area where the U.S believes Damascus used chemical weapons last week. U.S force is reported to be ready to move into action, anytime president Obama orders them to move. Assad seems not to care about this, saying " failure awaits United States if it attacks Syria."

Russia and China have stepped up their warnings against military intervention in Syria, with Moscow saying any such action would have "catastrophic consequences" for the region.
The US and its allies are considering launching strikes on Syria in response to deadly attacks last week. The US said there was "undeniable" proof of a chemical attack, on Monday. UN chemical weapons inspectors are due to start a second day of investigations in the suburbs of Damascus. The UN team came under sniper fire as they tried to visit an area west of the city on Monday. A spokesman for UK Prime Minister David Cameron says the UK is making contingency plans for military action in Syria. Mr Cameron has cut short his holiday and returned to London to deal with the Syrian crisis.

Russian foreign ministry spokesman Alexander Lukashevich has called on the international community to show"prudence" over the crisis and observe international law. "Attempts to bypass the Security Council, once again to create artificial groundless excuses for a military intervention in the region are fraught with new suffering in Syria and catastrophic consequences for other countries of the Middle East and North Africa," he said in a statement. Late on Monday, the US said it was postponing a meeting on Syria with Russian diplomats, citing "ongoing consultations" about alleged use of chemical weapons in Syria. Hours later, Russia expressed regret about the decision. The two sides had been due to meet in The Hague on Wednesday to discuss setting up an international conference on finding a political solution to the crisis. The Russian deputy defence minister, Gennady Gatilov said working out the political parameters for a resolution on Syria would be especially useful, with the threat of force hanging over the country.

UN chemical weapons inspectors spent nearly three hours in the suburb of Muadhamiya in western Damascus on Monday.

On Monday, Mr Cameron spoke to Russian President Vladimir Putin who said there was no evidence yet that Syria had used chemical weapons against rebels, Mr Cameron's office said. The official Chinese news agency, Xinhua, said Western powers were rushing to conclusions about who may have used chemical weapons in Syria before UN inspectors had completed their investigation. UN visit Both the Syrian government and rebels have blamed each other for last Wednesday's attacks. Medical charity Medicines Sans Frontieres said three hospitals it supported in the Damascus area had treated about 3,600 patients with "neurotoxic symptoms", of whom 355 had died.

Stubborn Swimmer Ended up in Crocodile's Jaw

Sydney - A 24-year-old man was snatched by a crocodile in front of at least 15 onlookers as he swam across a northern Australian river with a friend, police said on Sunday.
Northern Territory police said the man was with a group celebrating a birthday at the Mary River Wilderness Retreat, about 110km from Darwin, on Saturday when he decided to plunge into the water. "They were watching him swim across," senior sergeant Geoff Bahnert told AFP of the group. "And they just saw a crocodile with him in its jaws." Police conducted a search for the man, but were unsuccessful. The search was continuing on Sunday, Bahnert said, adding that the largest crocodile at the site had been shot and killed as a precaution.
Reports suggested the men had ignored warnings not to swim in the river because of the risk of a crocodile attack. "We tell people to stay away from the water, they obviously went against this (and) a man was taken," an employee of the resort, Erin Bayard, told News Corp Australia. "We say to everybody it's full of crocs. It's one of the most populated rivers in the Territory, every couple of kilometers there is a large croc." AFP.

Minister of the FCT fell into fraudsters' net, swindled of N3 Million

Fraudsters are wearing new faces everyday. They are employing new strategy, new formation, if you may, to swindle millions from people everyday. Here on this blog, we'll soon write on the different faces of fraudsters.

Senator Bala Muhammad

This is their latest move. North Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Senator Bala Muhammad, has fallen victim to a man, who specializes in cloning phone numbers and using same to commit large scale fraud in the process. The Minister, according to security information, fell into the trap set for him by one Ibrahim Sabo Takat, who lives in Wuye District of the FCT, who used his phone number and gave instructions, as if the Minister was the one doing so. In particular, Takat succeeded in ordering the Chief of Staff to the Minister to pay the sum of N3 million into his own account domiciled with Diamond Bank with number 0011141544, posing as if the Minister was the one giving the order. Unknown to the Chief of Staff, he quickly arranged and paid the amount into Takat’s account on Thursday, August 8, 2013 without suspecting any foul play. Shortly after the amount hit the account, Takat promptly withdrew it and disappeared into thin air. But he ran out of luck shortly after when the Minister smelt a rat and reported the huge swindle to the security agencies, when he discovered that he did not issue any instruction to this Chief of Staff to pay the N3 million into the fraudster’s account. The FCT Director of Security confirmed the arrest of Takat yesterday to journalists in Abuja and said that he would be charged after concluding investigations into the fraudulent act. Takat was paraded by Ibrahim Halilu, on behalf of the DSS Director FCT Command, who also asked members of the public to be careful with the way the handle their phones and who they give their numbers to.
