Neymar finally showed the goal-scoring touch he has been threatening with a hat-trick as Barcelona shrugged off their recent dip in form with a 6-1 win over Celtic at the Nou Camp yesterday (Dec 11) to seal top spot in Champions League Group H.

Manchester United 1-0 Real Sociedad

David Moyes was full of praise for Shinji Kagawa's Man of the Match display in the 1-0 win over Real Sociedad. "I thought it was Shinji's best game in my time here," said Moyes. "I saw something from him tonight which I hadn't seen in other games, so I was really pleased."
What Moyes and United wanted most was an early boost, something to settle the nerves, and they got it so early it was almost comical. Less than two minutes had elapsed when Rooney turned Markel Bergara inside out in the penalty area in what was United's first attack, calmly making room for a shot that rebounded from an upright straight into the path of Iñigo Martínez, arriving on the scene to help out Bergara but succeeding only in prodding the ball into his own goal. "It was a terrible mistake, a disastrous goal to concede," the Real Sociedad manager, Jagoba Arrasate, said. "We never really got our game together after that." United could have had a second goal after another 10 minutes when Claudio Bravo made the first save of the game, stopping a Rooney shot on the line after Rafael da Silva had crossed from the right.

Jonny Evans had suggested United need to raise the level of their performance after the Southampton game and encouraged by a dream start they seemed to be doing just that, passing more crisply, attacking more forcefully and utilising the whole width of the pitch. Rooney was too high with a somewhat ambitious overhead effort from Antonio Valencia's cross midway through the first half, before Hernández beat Bravo with a header only to be correctly recalled for offside.

Real Madrid 2-1 Juventus

Madrid had the lead before the clock showed four minutes.
Cristiano Ronaldo emerged Madrid's man of the match as they defeated 10-man Juventus to put one foot in the Champions League last 16.

Ronaldo scored twice in the first half - his sixth and seventh goals of the competition this season - either side of Fernando Llorente's equaliser, before Juve saw Giorgio Chiellini sent off for an alleged elbow on the Portugal international.

Chiellini, who conceded the penalty that handed Ronaldo his second, was shown a straight red card three minutes into the second period when it looked as though he had done nothing more than fend off the forward with his arm.

Bayern Munich 5-0 Viktoria Plzen

I already knew that Viktoria Plzen was no match for Bayern, cos the last time they met, they were thrashed 7-1 by Munich.

Franck Ribéry shone on his return from injury, scoring twice as Bayern Munich demolished Viktoria Plzen 5-0 in Group D of the Champions League.

David Alaba doubled the lead before half-time with a low drive and Ribéry got another with a superb chip on the hour, after shaking off two defenders in the box. Bastian Schweinsteiger added a goal three minutes later and Mario Götze completed the scoring from close range in stoppage time to end a nightmare evening for the Czech visitors.

Galatasaray 3-1 FC Copenhagen

 Didier Drogba and Emmanuel Eboué helped the Turkish club to a convincing 3-1 win over FC Copenhagen to move into second place behind Real Madrid, who defeated Juventus, inChampions League Group B on Wednesday.

In the EPL, United drew their last home match, wandering what tonight gonna be like, at Old Traford again.

Manchester United and Real Sociedad both changed managers in the summer and have been slow starters in their respective 2013/14 campaigns, with United eighth in the Premier League and Sociedad 12th in La Liga. Sociedad are without any points after two losses in Group A, and it is crucial they at least draw at Old Trafford to keep their qualification hopes alive. But the Spaniards come into the match on the back of a 2-1 win at Valencia, and long-serving captain Xabier Prieto is fully-fit again after a thigh injury. The sides have never met before but United have fared badly in recent matches against Spanish opposition. Over the last two seasons they were knocked out of European competition in the Last 16 by Real Madrid and Athletic Bilbao.

Fernando Torres scored an early goal for the Blues. Pressure kept mounting, and tension heightened on the both side, but the host weren't so lucky, as Fernando Torres aided by Oscar, scored his second goal for Chelsea. Eden Hazard netted the third goal for the visitors.

Arsenal Fc 1 vs 2 Borussia Dortmund

Henrikh Mkhitaryan goal gave the visiting Borussia Dortmund a lead at Emirate's stadium against the host. But Olivier Giroud's 41st minutes goal thwarted the visitors celebration, brought the game to a draw. One can say that Dortmund really meant to steal joy away from the Gunners fans as Robert Lewandowski scored the second goal for Borussia Dortmund. You could see real sorrow in the Gunners fan faces, because they brought their guns, but their guns refused to shoot. It jammed on them some how.

Arsenal have won 11 of their last 13 games in all competitions this season after Saturday’s 4-1 win against Norwich City. They're looking ahead to win tonight's match. Dortmund is a strong team, I'm sure they are not gonna give The Gunners a nip.

I'm not too sure about Chelsea game, but what I'm so sure is, its gonna be a tough game for the both teams.

Celtic have had ten different goalscorers this season but have so far failed to net in the Champions League against AC Milan and Barcelona.

AC Milan v Barcelona It promises to be a big game, but I wouldn't be surprised if AC Milan should fall cheap to Barca as they've been doing in the previous seasons.

Manchester United visits Shakhtar Donetsk at Donbass Arena on their UEFA Champions League second group stage encounter.
In tonight's game,Rio Ferdinand will be missing out because of his groin injury. United's team will be missing the likes of Fabio, Anderson and Wilfried Zaha.
Marouane Fellaini, Nemanja Vidic and Patrice Evra did not start against West Brom at the weekend but are likely to feature tonight, while Robin van Persie is fit and looks set to start.

Arsenal 2-0 Napoli Match Review

The match began with Arsenal taking long uninterrupted possession of the ball.
3 minutes elapsed, yet the visitors found it difficult to touch the ball with their legs as Arsenal took full possession ball .

Incredible performance by the Gunners as they continue to take possession of the ball 5 minutes from the start of the match. The Italians finally got hold of the ball. It wasn't long before Ozil the German caps a quite lovely move, sidefooting Ramsey's cross which gave Arsenal 1-0 lead over the visiting Napoli.
At this time, ball possession appeared to be even. It wasn't too long before the Gunners started dominating again. In the 15th minute of the game, Giroud's super shot into the roof of the net gave the Gunners a 2-0 lead as Arsenal maintained their super form, mesmerizing their fans with a superb performance. Thus, Arsenal maintains their place at the top of their group.

Chelsea will attempt to kick their Champions League campaign into gear at the second attempt on Tuesday when they visit Steaua Bucharest for their second Group E fixture.

The London club were stunned 2-1 by FC Basel in their first group outing and can ill afford further setbacks with a double-header against Schalke to come.

Chelsea last season became the first defending champions to be eliminated in the group phase and manager Jose Mourinho has described Tuesday`s match as "the game that we cannot lose".

"Even a draw, probably, is not a good result for us, so now we have to prepare ourselves," said the Portuguese, who is bidding to win the competition with a third different club.
I'm sure Jose Mourinho won't entertain any surprises tonight.

Countdown to match day 2 :UEFA Champions League

Yesterday we saw some exciting games of football in the champions league. All the top teams won exception of Juventus and today football fans will not be expecting anything less.

Today all eyes will be focused on the group of death as they tackle each other. The teams in this group are in-case  you are just coming from space Napoli, Dortmund, Arsenal and Marseilles.

The big match today is Napoli vs Dortmund. Dortmund as last year finalist will want to prove to bookmakers that they are the teams to beat. They will come with intention and hunger, if their form in their domestic league is anything to go by, they are in top gear. They are top of their league winning all their games so far this season. Napoli on the other hand has got a manager who is so accustomed to winning in Europe and they've recruited well in the summer. They like Dortmund are also top of their league and have maintained a 100% start to their season. This is a clash between two top teams and football lovers got something to be excited for.

The other game in this group between Marseilles and Arsenal is going to be another cracker. Each team will want to end the night with a win to place it in a better position to face the other two teams. I'm going to be keeping my eyes on this one too especially to see what Wenger got up his sleeves. A loss today will spell doom for gunners especially as bookmakers have predicted them not to survive this group. Marseilles on the other hand will want to prove bookmakers wrong that they are not the whipping team of the group and will come out blazing on all sides. Arsenal are in for a very tough game and I hope Ozil is fully fit for this encounter because aside all the hype of last weekend, he was sluggish to me and the reason was that he was not feeling too well. He needs  to be on top form to carry this Arsenal team on his shoulder.

Another match I'll  look  forward to is Chelsea vs Basel not because it will be a tough game but because of Mourinho. We all want to see him take charge of his first European game in this his second spell. Also we want to see the intricacies of his selection especially as he admitted yesterday that he has young and beautiful eggs in his squad. He claimed four players under the age of 22 will feature in the game tomorrow. Apart from Oscar who he said will be starting, I want to see who the other players will be, Lampard is also guaranteed a start

Barcelona will want to get  their campaign to a flyer as they match out at home against Ajax. The question that will be playing on people's mind is how Messi will respond to Ronaldo's ha trick of yesterday, expects Messi to let his game do the talking.
